Weights

I go through a lot of them. So we pour our own. Here are a few tricks that you all might find very helpful. Get yourself the DO-IT Lure and Sinker mold for Bass Casting 3, 4, and 5 oz weights. This is the one that I have modified and use the most. First of all, drill out the top where you pour the lead in enlarging the hole more. It will make life a lot easier when pouring. This will allow you to put a number 6 finish nail in for making your slip sinkers. Do file down the ends of the nails, as it will make it a lot easier to pull the nail out of the lead.

Next, I use a 1 ½ inch number 16 nail and just bend it around a pair of pliars for the loop. Takes abit of trys, but you will get the hang of it. Also I will add a swivel to this before I pour the weights for less twist on the line for a 3way rig. Pict below.

For a no roll sinker, just hit it with a hammer on the vise BEFORE you pull out the nail for the slip sinkers and smack the weights for the other ones also.

Now you do not have to fill the cavity up all the way if you wish to have a lighter weight. So experiment around and good luck.

The way I look at it, if I don’t loose at least 10 rigs in a tournament, I am not where the fish are at. Chuckle.. and yes.. I am a very good caster so that isn’t my excuse.
