Catfish Knot Saver©
Everyone always uses beads to save various knots from the weight from nicking and bruising the line of the knot. This is due to the various slip weights in general. Most slip weights are made with a
3/32 rod that goes into the weight mold that when pulled out, creates a sharp area as the lead forms a sharp tip on the rods. Weight crimpers have not been marketed yet in the fishing industry
although I have several designs that will work.
The bead industry gives us cheap plastic beads that have the same problem. Unless the hole of the bead is big enough to actually go over the knot, the system is ineffective.
I have developed a Catfish Knot Saver© product that actually works for any type of line and the various knots that we use in the Sport of Catfishing. Two sizes were developed for the various knots
like the palomar and the longer clinch and trilene knots. ¼ inch plastic tubing was cut to ¼ of an inch for the palomar design that fits between the swivel and slip weight on the main line. The
same ¼ inch tubing is used in a 3/8th of an inch section for the longer knots being the trilene and clinch knot.
